Financial
Assistance
Program
The Sunday River Ski and
Snowboard Club provides financial assistance to junior athletes participating
in Sunday River seasonal programs. The Ski Club’s Grants Committee reviews
requests for financial aid.
Two categories of grants are
considered:
(1)
Financial
assistance for junior athletes who need aid to participate in Sunday River seasonal
programs;
(2)
Financial
assistance for upper level athletes who incur large expenses related to events
and training camps for which they qualify through the United States Ski and
Snowboard Association and the US Ski Team ladder system.
Weekend Program Assistance
Grants are available for junior
athletes who otherwise would not be able to participate in the Sunday River
weekend programs. Grants may be approved for up to 50% of the net seasonal
program fee. The Grants Committee reviews family financial information. Grants
are limited to families with an annual taxable income below $75,000. The
Grant’s Committee reserves the discretion to consider families with higher
annual taxable income who have multiple junior athletes participating in the
Sunday River weekend programs. The junior athlete must commit to at minimum 90%
attendance.
Upper Level Assistance
Grants are available to
provide merit aid to athletes who incur significant financial expenses
participating in elite level events in the northeast, nationally and worldwide.
Grants are available only for
events qualified for through recognized USST and US Ski and Snowboard
Association ladder systems, as well as USASA Nationals.
Requirement for Submitting Financial Aid Requests
The athlete must be a Sunday River Ski and Snowboard Club member by
December 15 to be eligible for financial assistance of any kind.
The application for seasonal
program assistance must be received by December 31.
Application for upper level
assistance for qualified events occurring before February 1 must be received by
February 28.
Application for upper level
assistance for qualified events from February 1 to the season’s end must be
received by April 30.
